A Little Less Alive

A Little Less Alive

With every single passing day,
We move further from our birth.
Once popped out, then we're on our way,
To live and prove our worth.

Inexorable though this journey is,
We can try improve the distance.
Try slow to a walk from a whistle-stop whiz,
To end's pull, provide resistance.

By taking care of what we are,
Our mind and body and soul.
Trying not to race too soon too far,
Our wholemeal wholegrain whole.

Being selective of all life's offerings,
Of these which ones we take.
What each decision with it brings,
And the change to life may make.

For each day we're a little less alive,
Than we were the day before.
But, hopeful that long-lived, we thrive,
Consider, sometimes less is more.
