When young a child needs guidance, care,
To set it on its way.
And parents, omnipresent, there,
Will oversee, direct its play.
Then school receives their growing mind,
To of the world start making sense.
Destiny’s winding road to find,
With former ignorance dispense.
And into life they'll slowly grow,
Acquire its knowledge, skills.
Subsumed into its quickening flow,
As their essence it distills.
And steadily they will cease to need,
The same degree of intervention.
From prior constraints soon gently freed,
To own their choices, reinvention.
If a God has hitherto played a part,
And acknowledges this fruition.
Now's time to free their mind and heart,
Provide just ad hoc help, tuition.
Deemed close still as a young adult,
On-call to offer care.
Such mindset will as its result,
Provide the sense a friend is there.
But God should soon from here expect,
An inevitable weening.
As other mentors they elect,
Refresh perspective and life's meaning.
For with compasses now duly set,
God's assistance, purpose served.
And no such thing as Godly debt,
They're free to live life unreserved.
At this point they may hear a voice,
Kindly wish them all the best.
With what it is they've made their choice,
As they wave away their guest.
For all intents and purposes now,
They have the means to fully live.
Their life-loaned land to till and plough,
And only brief thought now God give.
To enjoy life, yet with sane belief,
And a future independent.
No undue ties or moral grief,
Just a fledgling mind resplendent.
An alumnus then, now free to be,
When deciding how to flourish.
For no decent God wants you or me,
To with restrictive rules poor nourish.
God will be there when help is sought,
Remain a source of much they've learnt.
But under a spell no longer caught,
A freedom from such limits earnt.
