Beware the Sea

Ageless dungeon of mighty dread,
Deep beneath whose seething charm.
Lie myriad ancient hapless dead,
Their notion us to harm.
What world this vast companion space,
Beyond our land-bound measure.
This brutish body without a face,
Of cool beguiling pleasure.
For by its stealthy prowling swell,
It will untroubled take its prey.
Just where and when moods rare foretell,
Guile of a guiltless growling grey.
Beware the sea, its languid lure,
Rogue companion of sand and sun.
Its art to which our fates inure,
That by its wit you're not undone.
