Bonjour Brittany

Awaits our channel chariot, to surf black nighttime sea,
Escort us to northern France, my fellow ferryees and me.
Overnight in a cabin to a while nautically nestle,
Seafaring-safe inside this rumbling, roll-on/roll-off vessel.

Gone the light of launched-from land; indistinguishable sea from sky
We move at tiptoe steady knots; from wet wild wilderness, warm and dry.
Inside, life is as normal, befriended, buoyant, becalmed and bright,
Before we all retire, hence dream-transported through the night.

And soon a distant street-lit coast from the darkness slow appears,
As our destination rises from to where our ship now steady steers.
Then having had our petit-déjeuner, and revealed the dawning day.
We're disembarked, through customs sent, a while in Brittany to stay.
