Cinderella's Shoe

Don't force Cinderella's shoe to fit,
When it's clearly not to be.
Instead take the hint and graceful quit,
Change course and set thought free.
Sometimes fate is the one knows better,
Though its plan not always shared.
This furtive, silent, skilled go-getter,
May see with whom you're better paired.
So yield despite no clearer choice,
Trust life's prevailing wind.
A wise low murmur of a voice,
To unrealistic hopes rescind.
And the resignation this requires,
Will assist with love's detection.
As if better knowing your true desires,
And the course of redirection.
For love will come unbidden,
Revealed, not seen before.
As if there waiting, hidden,
Behind an as yet untried door.
Life is a balance of choice and fate,
For which wisdom points the way,
And sometimes we just have to wait,
For it to speak up, have its say.
So for Cinderella, look elsewhere,
And a foot which fits the shoe,
As tight and painful will declare,
They're not the one you have in view.
