Comeback Call

Comeback Call

It's a thin line divides the here and there,
Separates I am and not.
The gossamer between the Sun's bright glare,
And a darkened earthbound plot.

I bob on the surface of death's deep sea,
Its reflected, sparkling light.
Before gone the buoyancy allotted me,
And inevitable then my plight.

Life, a perplexing puzzle to ponder,
For the briefly conscious mind.
A series of byways lost to wander,
Try meaning and purpose find.

But ultimately, all play is in vain,
As I rise then slowly fall.
For by effort all that I whilst here gain,
Is lost at the comeback call.
