Day Away

I took myself for a day away,
By bus and train and feet,
Brief at a seaside town to stay,
With a sea view lunch as treat.
How glorious the light and air,
As I strolled along the beach.
So glad that I’d been drawn there,
For some time beyond work's reach.
Its sights and sounds and salty smell,
Others enjoying it, seeming same.
Inland cares to here dispel,
I’m sure each glad they also came.
Then back the way I travelled,
By feet and train and bus.
My erstwhile knots unravelled,
Gone that Monday-to-Friday fuss.
