Fault of Heart

Reading, music and podcast – see About

I wonder if they know that someone thinks they're very lovely,
Enchanting out and inward virtue, all dreamy and white-dovely.
I hope they do not doubt that someone's eye their beauty sees,
So they never feel they don't possess what timeless love decrees.
Just going about their daily life being normal, unaffected,
No feigned demeanour, history or looks elaborately confected.
Unaware of being observed and cause of tender thoughts,
Or prospect that their guileless self a nascent fondness courts.
For to think adornments matter is really just a fault of heart.
Fate's fancy, love for finding, plays the more important part.
As love hides nowhere yet is always unexpected found,
And unadorned despite so often artful wrapped and bound.
For its beholder sees this loveliness which to them is in plain sight,
And clothes, nor hair or makeup enhance or diminish this delight.
As thankfully love sees beyond; knows what is meant to be,
And despite ourselves, will find its way to them and you and me.
