Gravity

Gravity

We live life on Earth's outward face,
Onto which we doubt-free cling.
Toe to head in endless space,
And worth a moment fathoming.

If gravity were to disengage,
We would all be flung head first.
Aloft our spinning globe-shaped stage,
Earth's pull lost; full reversed.

The world would be so quick undone,
We'd be gone before we knew it.
Our Solar System and its Sun,
Could but only helpless view it.

What took so long to put together,
Would return from whence it came.
Gone life's hold, its fragile tether,
Then, just baggage to reclaim.
