A boiler in its dormant state before back up it fires.
Light bulbs ornamental until their use the dark demands,
Food sits patient in the fridge awaiting hungry hands,

Cupboards and drawers and contents, ready to serve each daily need,
Bookshelves at the ready to your imagination feed.
The radio and TV poised to inform and entertain,
All these things are ever ready to your daily life sustain

Everything you need is there in and around your servile home,
So never for such convenience do you piecemeal need to roam.
All is poised and ready to offer any help it certain can,
To prepare us for a sated day, as if collusion were their plan.

And whilst you're out they each resume their former resting state,
And patiently for your return, they'll quiet and idle wait.
Until again they hear your key and opening of the door,
When with a light switch click they'll again be at your service as before.
