Illness

Illness has the slow effect of withdrawing us from the light,
Taking us but steadily from the daytime back to night.
Recalling all once given and which we've hitherto enjoyed,
And all the tools and faculties to try enjoy it we've employed.
Our engagement with a complex world requires a mind and body strength,
And a consciousness so heightened, and at its peak the whole day's length.
Awareness of life's dangers, which can compromise the whole,
And of those things so on display as if by stealth ill’s burglar stole.
Try appreciate what you remaing have, despite all its frustrations,
And that you're spared much worse and all of the accompanying privations.
For everything can be much worse until the point when final dead,
When ends this long-fought battle between the world, your body and head.
