Lifeline at the Library

My darling dear companion of a lovely gentle wife,
Has now sadly gone before me from our wonderful long life.
We shared our failing senses to make for both as one complete,
And together made a whole so life's demands we'd combined meet.
But now I'm barely half with her no longer by my side,
And I try get by as best I can, shortcomings hope to hide.
Increasingly I struggle with new challenges of the day,
As the world in which I felt secure, ever quickly slips away.
Though now I've had to think again because a world I thought uncaring,
Has surprised me, and my grief-gouged wound is as quickly now repairing.
For when I found myself in need, it was as if anticipated,
And there appeared a guiding hand to offer help as if planned, fated.
As today whilst at the library, concert tickets trying to print,
From amongst the fug of senses dimmed, appeared a godsent guiding glint.
With kindness and compassion came a patient explanation,
The glint, a key to grant this slave a swift emancipation.
From a person young and far removed in age and life-lived years,
But yet who understands and cares, and silent pleas clear hears.
In life’s game plan; on its battlefield, a knight and starring player,
And one bestowed with sword and shield as problem and doubt slayer.
Life's a patient teacher, if attentive pupil you'll just be,
And there are lessons to attend which yet instruct old folk like me.
The young are us not long ago when we would help as now they do,
And I've learned that kindness isn't lost, which today confirms is true.
My struggle at the library, expected bout amongst its books,
Became a realisation that in this life, the fortune-fated from fate plucks.
And by the empathy of a kindly heart, this soul was redirected,
And its ripple has potential to the whole world be affected.
Thank you lady who helped me out, as from you I've learnt a lot,
And I appreciate much better and will in future fear life not.
I made the concert but only because with your help my print succeeded,
And I've sung your praises ever since, as you're the hope I greatly needed.
