Love Letter From My Laptop

Has technology changed the way we talk,
Or the way we interact?
On our progress' road is this a fork,
Has something valuable been hacked?
If the sense is that this seems the case,
Then is this good or is it bad?
This change of process, thought and pace,
From that we erstwhile had.
Does a carefully crafted tapped-out text,
Convey same meaning as a letter?
With messages often quick reflexed,
Does expedience translate better?
And can emotion be the same conveyed,
By a mere emoticon?
Or the strings of a tender heart be played,
When all so quickly acted on?
Can thumbs compose a fervent draft,
To explain a deep-set thought?
With which for hours you may have faffed,
Its true essence with much care sought?
In that the underlying drives,
Remain the same as ever.
I suspect the landscape of our lives,
Will disregard the changing weather.
Though nature changes; it changes not,
And despite the tools we use.
Where the course of love we care to plot,
We'll always spot the headline news.
For all will ever surely be,
As life's true passions will persist.
And favouring neither pen or key,
Love, all technologies will resist.
