My Other World

Within the haven of my garden,
Is a safer harbour still.
With nothing but peacefulness to pardon,
it’s where my thoughts I can distil.
Short walk but feeling far away,
Brief home away from home.
An escape at any hour of day,
Where midst imaginings I roam.
Bedecked with comfy reading chairs,
I can here with books confide.
Day’s light it kind and generous shares,
With shade, where joy to hide.
A year’s full view of tended lawn,
And nurtured flower beds.
From Springtime shoots to nursery born,
‘Till Autumn bows their heads.
A place for the long contented sigh,
Summer moment at its best.
Where time but stops; brief doesn’t fly,
Takes a shared and well-earned rest.
How lovely that I have a place,
When in its comfort gently furled.
I have the quiet, the time and space,
To enjoy my other world.
