Night Switch

The light switch releases waiting night,
Its flood of deep dark space.
Quick dispelled, the pretend daylight,
Simple click to light replace.

Gone sight's sense and all I see,
Turned off, my outer eyes.
As all to my vision familiar, flee,
To new seeing, which day belies.

Inner eyes are now open wide,
To reveal day’s hidden world.
All the while played out inside,
Not revealed ‘till in blackness curled.

This waiting switch and a humble thumb,
Determine nighttime's course from here.
Store what's been, frame what's to come,
Dream’s time now to appear.
