Reclaim

Your mind is for thinking what you want,
For your very own soapbox speeches.
Waging war or discussing détente,
And beyond others' prying reaches.
Here we cultivate our own world view,
Quite independent of the rest.
See wide its span, seek viewpoints new,
At no one's but your own behest.
Unique, not found elsewhere the same,
Though many seem like they're a clone.
So it's a place we urgent need reclaim,
A home to truly call our own.
As a venue to think, we have free reign,
Like nowhere else we could.
No need a persona to in here feign,
Or rules abide by needless should.
Providing the chance to stop, step back,
See life in different ways.
Shake up, give fixed ideas a whack,
As thought with new content plays.
A place never fearful to buck the trend,
Or serial sceptic learn to be.
The wisdom of the crowd upend,
Range of perspectives try to see.
That's not to say we shouldn't adhere,
To a guiding moral stance.
For even free thought needs a steer,
It’s a deft due diligence dance.
But appreciate your gift of mind,
It's what you were; are yet to be.
Your means to truth and knowledge find,
Unrivalled asset lifelong free.
