Reverie

Reverie

On a dark and dreary winter's day,
When summer seems so far away.
Into my daydream drawer I reach,
To find the card with B for beach.

And as I take the card in hand,
My feet sink into dry hot sand.
Projected to a desert isle,
To stay and dream a little while.

Palm trees rustle in a warm sea breeze,
And with no one but myself to please.
I lay down on the golden shore,
Then doze to the blue sea's gentle roar.

O reverie, what a gift you are,
To take my mind and lead it far.
To a place where no one else can go,
A place no other will ever know.

The card goes back into the drawer,
But later I'll be back for more.
For new ideas for quick sojourns,
It's just a shame they're all returns.
