Rocking Horse

The rocking horse was a gift to me,
When I was very small.
Too big for my old bedroom,
I would play out in the hall.
Its saddle seat was very high,
When I was of few years.
I fell off rather often,
My hurt pride saw many tears.
As I grew I rode my faithful horse,
Through fields and over fences.
Towards an enemy attacking,
Then back to my defences.
Soon I was too tall by far,
To ride my rocking horse.
Maturing minds forget about,
Such childish things of course.
But sometimes when I'm passing,
I'll sit upon its frame.
To reminisce, and strike the match,
Rekindling memories flame.
