Running Out of Rhyme

Running Out of Rhyme

This doodle, what will it be about,
Let me steel a moment’s thought?
With what idea concerned throughout,
Should I make it long or short?

What known devices should I use,
To guarantee attention?
With what should I each of its lines infuse,
What should and shouldn't I mention?

And should it be like a favourite tale,
Good start and middle and end?
A fanciful plot to with joy regale,
And wisdom which to lend.

Then should it conclude with a final verse,
To send the reader on their way?
For their time spent, a way to reimburse,
Last thought to brighten up their day.

Yes, all the above I’ll choose to do,
As I spend my iambic time.
Here we go then, a something new,
Oh no, I’ve run out of…
