Spud and Bugsy

Spud and Bugsy, my childhood friends,
What did they both become?
Did they navigate life's turns and bends,
Survive its throng and thrum?
Or was their time unexpected short,
Brought suddenly to an end?
In one of life's many spirals caught,
To from existence spinning send.
I see them still as once they were,
And so they've never aged a day.
As if what followed they would defer,
In the past to ever play.
How did their personalities set,
Them on a chosen track.
And were their youthful hopes due met,
In later life when looking back?
I hope they're happy and living nearby,
And we'll some day fateful meet.
By serendipity all rules defy,
To make life's cycle then complete.
