Sticky Out Bits

There's much that I'd have never seen,
Were it not for this creation.
Places that I'd not have been.
Little sense beyond this nation.

A freedom unimagined yet,
So recent in our past.
Ideas of sky and travel unmet,
Of going places quite so fast.

But then the daring brothers Wright,
And their eponymous fragile Flyer.
Gave us by their shake-short flight,
A future further, ever higher.

And now we take for granted,
We can where we fancy fly.
Once grounded, firmly planted,
To being at one with cloud and sky.

So when lost in deep reflection,
As above the Earth one sits.
Be amazed by this invention,
Resulting tube and sticky out bits.
