Summer Light

Summer Light

How lovely is new summer light,
Which so estranges dawn from dusk.
When daytime all but exiles night,
Sheds winter's opaque husk.

How cruel seem winter's shortened days,
When light is old and wan.
And brief between long shadows plays,
Before too quickly gone.
