The Belly of the Nighttime Beast

The Belly of the Nighttime Beast

I'm in the belly of the nighttime beast,
A dark and noiseless tomb.
Enjoying a long diurnal feast,
In its hemispherical catacomb.

I'm anaesthetised with pleasant dreams,
To allow it's lengthy ruminations.
Digesting my days new thoughts it seems,
To satisfy it's vast predations.

And then expelled back onto light,
The beast having had its fill.
I'm awake, that is until tonight,
When once again slave to it's will.
