The Sea, the Sea

All the way around me, there's nothing but sea,
And the occasional other lonely ship.
Out in this wilderness, almost nothing I can be,
But a seafaring solitary blip.
How pleasing to the eye, an horizon just that,
With nothing to ones senses enthral.
Just ocean spread endless far featureless flat,
Vast blandness, just nothing at all.
But for me it is a landscape of so very much,
Of constancy, calm and content.
Magnificent and mindful and mesmerising such,
That I gain much from a time out here spent.
Just sky greeting sea at their border each stilled,
Universe to universe a kiss.
One filled with planets, the other planet filled,
A meeting of behemoth blue bliss.
A clearing, a cleansing a resetting of mind,
Brief erasing of landscape complex.
It's whilst I'm out here that this benefit I find,
And its gift to a busy life unvex.
In a populace world and complex to the senses,
What a joy to a moment be free.
Small ferry investment, many times recompenses,
Just a ship, lots of emptiness and me.
