Two-Faced Time

Two-faced time treads constant on,
Perspective ever changing.
Accompanies us from being to gone,
World's lifescape rearranging.
Both friend yet ultimately foe,
We're inescapably here linked.
We can't but help its hands to know,
Throughout our span; its blink.
Time creates a wound it heals,
Makes us sick to nurse us better.
Gives to us then as quick repeals,
Chains us up to then unfetter.
It's the source of family and friends,
And others whilst here we meet.
Life's beginnings and certain ends,
And all that makes our lives complete.
It brings joy but countered sadness,
Great pleasure and deepest pain.
Of our time here all its gladness,
But it can't bring us again.
For when its work with us is done,
Its attention then elsewhere.
Our days amongst the stars and sun,
Have been a momentary care.
And on it goes to complete its task,
Provide a future we'll not know.
Until of its care no further ask,
And time for time itself to go.
