Up on the Down

Up on the Down

But a short walk from changing day,
Is a place unchanging, still.
To where when I can, I sneak away,
Mind and heart with zest refill.

Like a stepping out from time-slave life,
Into a green bound book of history.
Senses from sights cine scenes to hide,
Noisy known, to quiet mystery.

Welcome here for the weary mind,
Replenishment thus required.
Here no demands a person finds,
Antidote when time-toll tired.

Down becomes up, when up on the down,
Spirits lifted along with the lark.
Gone now the hum and demand of the town,
Its bounding, broodiness, and bark.

Visual green tea in the day’s afternoon,
Such should never be too far away.
So each has a place we can get to, and soon,
For a while all behind us at bay.
