Words in Herds

Words in Herds

I love to think that words might herd,
Around a simple thought.
That something from a start absurd,
An essence can be caught.

They stroll a while to gently graze,
But soon a form takes shape.
A sentence, then from that a phrase,
And soon there's no escape.

For once corralled within rhymes fence,
And with purpose understood.
Their shape revealed makes pleasing sense,
As prose quite never could.

Sum greater than these unique parts,
A consciousness awakes.
To resonate with minds and hearts,
As life thereon it takes.
